Prayer and Chaplaincy Ministry

Then I heard the Voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here I Am, Lord, send me.” - Isaiah 6:8

The core of the Unity Chaplain Program at Unity of East Louisville is Prayer, Listening and Confidentiality. The Chaplain’s role is to “Hold spiritual space, listen, and pray.” Holding Spiritual Space is the HEART of the Program.
Chaplains pray with the congregation – not only in times of life’s challenges – but also in times of celebrating joys, gratitude, visions and goals. The Chaplain’s motto is, “Here I Am Lord.”

Chaplains are dedicated and willing individuals who hold spiritual space, are loving listeners, holding in confidence what they hear, and are available to pray with you at all of our weekend services. The Chaplain Program, which provides extensive training and ongoing support for chaplains, also offers monthly “wellness calls” to all active members and those request this.

The chaplains are always ready to pray with you and hold each in complete confidentiality.

Chaplaincy Coordinator: Kathy Schmidlin and Chaplain Margie Logsdon.

“Much prayer is speaking, yet much of it is listening. And the speaking we do in prayer is important, but listening is even more important. For it is as we listen that God speaks. It is in the Silence that the word of God is uttered and the work of God is done.” (James Dillet Freeman from Be)
